Hi folks!

I've got three important things to share with you today:

  1. Lead Guitar Secrets release date: Friday, July 20, 2007! Unless there's some major unforseen problem, LGS will be ready to ship on July 20.

  2. Fender Strat Giveaway: I'm giving away TWO Fender Strat's. The contest details haven't been nailed down yet. But I plan to have more info for you on July 6.

  3. Six Solo Licks video lesson from LGS. Today, I've got six solo licks from Lead Guitar Secrets (complete with tab).

Do this first: Right-click here and choose "Save As..." to save a copy of the tab for this lesson to your hard drive. Once the pdf is saved, open the file (or print it) and have it in front of you when you watch the lesson.

Six Solo Guitar Licks Video:

Enjoy this video? Please post your comments/questions below. I love hearing from you! Also, know someone who could benefit from this lesson? Feel free to click the "envelop" icon below and email them the link to this post.

I'll be in touch on Friday with the Fender Strat contest details.

Cheers!

  • Love it Dan !!!!
One thing...sometimes we disregard the Right hand and their importance in solos. Are you using a pick, is your hand "anchored" ala Mark Knoffler, or free roaming like Dave Gilmore ? Do you subscribe to a particular technique or does it come down to individuals ?

By John H (Australia), at July 03, 2007

  • Hi John,

You're correct. Sometimes the right-hand does get ignored. :-(

There are 7-hours of video in the new course. And for a LOT of it, we used two cameras: one of the RH and one on the LH. It just happens that this clip only uses one camera.

    But to answer your questions...

Yes, I'm using a pick. (Dunlop Tortex, 1.14mm) and I am a big fan of anchoring the right-hand on the pickup with your "pinky" finger.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Dan,

I am cautious by nature but your style has hooked me in. Can you tell me though what set up you use on your amp and if any pedals involved in these lessons.

    By Bernie H, at July 03, 2007

  • Bernie,

I'm using a JCM900, 100W Marshall head with a 4X12 Celestion cabinet. The only pedal is a BBE Sonic Maximizer (to boost lows & highs). In this particular video I have a the reverb set on about 6 of 10 (which may be a little too high).

    Thanks for the compliment. ;-)

    Cheers,

    Dan

  • Hi Dan,
Thanks for the great videos. In your course, do you go into picking -i.e. down up up down etc.

I have found this changes feel and speed .

    Hope you respond to this.

Thanks for all the great insight

  • Hi Dan

It's really good. I hope it will be ready before 29th because then I'll be flying to the states (I live in Belgium). I'll be hanging around North California for three weeks to meet friends.

I attend lessons at the rockscool (school!)in Namur, Belgium but am more interrested in blues.

I think these are the videos I'm waiting for.

  • Hi Dan

I didn't pick up a guitar until I was 52. I could hardly do a CMaj shape and an Fmaj was out of the question! I'm 54 now, and thanks to your course I can do a C pretty comfortably now and the F is getting there. I know 21 sets of scales too and my understanding has improved no end. I don't care how long it takes. I'm having fun.

    Thank You

    Colin

P.S. If your ever in West Yorkshire, don't pass me by.

  • Dan, great licks and lessons. I'm learning more from just the licks than any lesson I've ever had. You are a great guitarist and a great teacher. Thx, Andy

As always enjoying your videos and your incredible knowledge of music. I have a question about lick 22 and the tab. What notes are you playing in the triplet. They don't seem to be the ones in the tab. Help please.

  • Hi there - I want to tell you about my experience with Dan Denley’s DVD Guitar courses.
This has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to win one of the stratochester guitars- this is all true- it happened to a friend of a friend of mine.
My guitar playing sucked - I was useless - you know what I am talking about right? -my fingers felt like bananas, and the guitar sounded like an infant with colic.
Then I bought Dan’s Amazing Guitar Secrets and Blues Secrets courses and I’ve made great progress. He has an easy going style, and guides you through in a simple, no-nonsense, step by step way- backed up by detailed workbooks.
I can’t wait for his new lead guitar course to take me to the next level, - my fingers will be skipping across the fret board like a tapdancer on speed, and handling more scales than a snake charmer with 6 arms. If I win one of the startocast guitars I’m planning on entertaining my elderly neighbours with so many loud drooling licks it’ll be like a kindergarten outing to an ice cream factory. Great stuff, thanks Dan.
